I want the blood !
Yes I do !
As I was sitting in the comfy seat of the cinema, I totally ignored that I would behold something striking, to say the least. Slowly and steadily, the movie struck me, every time with a new weapon, be it silence, actors, transitions, music, feelings, action or whatever. I was led by the nose all the movie long.

Daniel Day-Lewis was outstanding as a native butcher in Gangs of New York. But this time, it was a complete Daniel I witnessed, sometimes playing with Paul Dano a fight between raw logics and apparent faith. Anderson, writer-director, skillfully made us laugh when Mr Plainview played bowling on Eli until he got him down for real, abruptly silencing the audience who wasn't expecting this. And that's a mere example of some very interesting scenes.

Talking about the movie in details would take too much time since it needs to be done properly. I stumbled upon Matt Zoller Seitz's take and I recommend you read it if you want a longer and way more objective analysis of the film. It's also full of noteworthy information.
Soundtrack
What about the soundtrack ? It was composed by Jonny Greenwood, a member of Radiohead, that overly popular band. The soundtrack is a jewel and well worth an acquisition, you will realize this when you watch the movie anyway.
In the list of recent movies, There will be blood is a must-see, especially when you want to forget such really bad jokes called Transformers or 10000, that americans seem to love.
